MBA’s Students at Nordea Case Competition, Copenhagen 2018

Our MBA’s Students from the 9th edition: Nastassia Halich, Maya Yakieva and Jonasz Leśniczak took part in this flag project dedicated to master students from universities and business schools in one of the four Nordic countries: Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Poland.

One of the participants Nastassia Halich reports the event: “This was an annual Nordea Competition for last year master’s students held in Copenhagen on November 6-7. Maya, Jonasz and I were selected from the pool of applicants to participate among other students from such universities like Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Stockholm University (Sweden), Jyväskylä University (Finland), Gdansk University of Technology (Poland), Oulu Business School (Finland), Lund University (Sweden), Uppsala University (Finland), Norwegian Business School (Norway), etc.

To sum up the event in numbers: 30 final year master’s students. 14 nationalities. 2 days of the event. 8 teams. 24 hours to prepare. 1 winning team.
The jury was comprised of Nordea senior management from personal and wholesale banking. The winner team received 1600 euro. Jonasz’s team was selected to the finalists’ round.

The problem statement for the case: Nordea wants to accelerate innovative solutions and offerings, by providing digital experiences through different life events. Open banking enhances the collaboration and co-creation with companies which is key to delivering a better customer experience. We had to imagine that we had recently graduated and were starting our first job: What type of services, both financial and non-financial, could be useful and what needs would the services cover? Nordea wants to deliver the services depicted above to leverage on the opportunities if open banking. How will Nordea do this?

We had 24 hours to brainstorm, come with the solution and make a presentation. Those were intense days, but we came back with an unforgettable experience.”

We congratulate all participants and especially the three and wish You further successes!
