
Mr (PhD) Michele Fiorini pursued his education across universities in Ancona (Italy), Bath (United Kingdom), and Gdańsk (Poland). Currently, he holds the position of Principal Engineer at Leonardo S.p.A. in Rome (Italy), where he offers expertise in maritime surveillance systems for both civil and military purposes. In addition to his role at Leonardo, Dr. Fiorini serves as an Industrial Member at the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) and represents Italy within the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG).
His professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the IET (UK), a Senior Member of the IEEE (USA), and holding Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in the UK through the Engineering Council. He is also registered with the Ordine degli Ingegneri of Rome in Italy. Dr. Fiorini’s scholarly contributions extend to numerous peer-reviewed papers, an international patent (EP2601647A1, 2015) and two co-edited volumes for the IET Transportation series: ‘ICT Solutions and Digitalisation in Ports and Shipping’ (2021) and ‘Clean Mobility and Intelligent Transport Systems’ (2015).
