MBA Study Visit in GE Power – theory in practice

On 21.10.2022, as a part of Operational Excellence module, MBA Students of XIII MBA Edition visited the GE Power company in Elbląg. Sylwia Fil, Senior Lead Leader and Wojciech Żóralski, Senior Commercial Operations Manager provided the workshop for the MBA Students which was a part of Operational Excellence Applications module.

During the workshop MBA Students played games that allowed them to understand how the work can be standardized and how to implement 5S in the work environment. Moreover, lecturers shared their own experiences regarding Hoshin Kanri’s method of strategy deployment, showing that methods related to Lean Management are not only theory, but are in fact used successfully in practice.

To have better insight into Lean Management principles and its implementation in the company, MBA Students were invited for the factory tour. They visited the GE Power Turbine Factory where they could take a look into Lean Management methods used in the turbines production. Managers of the production shared their experience and knowledge considering implementation of production lines and presented their techniques of constant optimization and production improvement – all in accordance with Lean Management principles.

It was a pleasure to visit GE Power and seeing the company from inside is a unique and valuable experience. Live learning is a part of our programme and as always at the top of the notch.
