We are Sustainable… we play fair

What is Fairtrade sign? What are the rules behind? How it looks in the context of business ethics?

As part of the activities related to the topic of ethical and sustainable aspect of business, students from XI and XII edition gained knowledge about the Fairtrade assumptions. It is a system of certification – with the famous Fairtrade label – that aims to ensure a set of standards are met in the production and supply of a product or ingredient. In the centre of interest are farmers and workers whom are setting minimum prices for all major commodities. Moreover, there are provided them additional funds to invest as they see fit. Fairtrade means workers’ rights, safer working conditions and fairer pay. For shoppers it means high quality, ethically produced products.

The classes were complemented by “Sustainable Development Challenges” module conducted by prof. Adam Przybyłowski, from Gdynia Maritime University. They were a continuation of the topic of sustainable development in the context of sustainable development goals. The aspect of sustainable mobility was especially taken into account.

Thanks to Fairtrade Polska, MBA students have tried products manufactured by the company that have this certificate. On that day, while drinking coffee, produced in accordance with the principles of Fair Trade, we gained a lot of energy to act, also in the field of sustainable development.
